Hi Fearless Readers,

I was just looking back at some of the old posts and my vision board for what I thought was going to be a great year. When we rang in 2020, I just knew this was going to be a great year, a GOLDEN year where everything we've all worked so hard for would finally come to fruition.

Boy, was I dead ass wrong. This year has rapidly gone from mild irritation to complete dumpster fire to damn near apocalyptic. Not only have we been met with the loss of great people from celebrities to actors to beloved members of our families, our spirits have been dented and damaged. I won't say broken because even during this shit storm of a pandemic we've seen that people are generally good in tough times.

From the peaceful protests in the streets to the people singing from balconies, from the random acts of kindness and the spirit of hope, we are not broken, just a little banged up. During what I consider to be one of the worst presidential administrations in history, I still see glimmers of what made this country, this planet a great place to be. We have always had the bad, but now, since we've all been cloistered in our homes like ground hogs waiting to be let out to see our shadows, we've all been privy to the insanity, the bigotry and hate being spewed on a daily basis. The world has witnessed what many of us have seen, felt and lived with our entire lives but now, with no where to go, nothing to do but watch, the world has opened it's eyes to injustice and hatred on a global level.

Yes, this vitriol is disgusting, the hatred is heartbreaking, but now, because of this pandemic, this forced isolation, the veil has been lifted and everyone can see...us. And we, the global village that is planet earth, have risen to the occasion. We are speaking, we are screaming we are fighting back against the conspiracy theorists, the feigned ignorance and the baiting to make us turn on one another. We are finally, finally being seen. And I don't just mean Black people, yes I said black, but all of the marginalized people in this world who have been made to feel less than.

We, when we gather and lift our voices as one, are more powerful than any hate, not matter how loud and miserable. We finally have the attention of a world that is ready to hear us, see us, believe in us. So... please, please use this time to make strides that make us all better. Use this time to build a world that can be what we all know if can be for our children and their children. We are a world of hope , of love, of understanding. the old guard is dying off, we must be prepared to take up the mantle and run with it ...but in the right direction.

I'll finish this decidedly serious post with this.. we are our ancestor's wildest dreams. This is our time, this is where we make our stand. The world is waiting.

Please, and I say this with all sincerity, don't fuck it up.
